Letter
From Pastor Ogletree
To the First Met Family,
Greetings in the name of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and lead you in 2007. It will be an exciting year, a fruitful year, and a year of increase.
This is the: Year of No Limits!
The Apostle Paul praises God in Ephesians 3:20,21 and says He is “able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus…” This scripture is the basis for our theme. We must recognize that we are in partnership with God to “take the limits off.” This is my prayer for our church family, my family and for you and your family.
Expect God to take the limits off our construction challenge. Look for God to take the limits off our:
Lifting the Savior up to draw men unto Him
Experiencing the love of God and loving each other
Learning the will, the way and the Word of God
Living a God honoring lifestyle, at home, work and play
Leadership excellence, efficiency and effectiveness
Level of wealth earning and giving to the church
Remember, God will do this with our participation. You must make the commitment to move through our process of BELONGING, CONNECTING, GROWING and SERVING.
May God continue to bless you as we begin the year 2007 focused and full of faith for what God is and will continue to do in our ministry and in our lives.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor O
Letter
From Lady Ogletree
Greetings,
This very common phrase symbolizes the fact that we’ve been blessed to survive the past year and granted the privilege of entering a brand New Year, 2007. This New Year brings with it new opportunities, new challenges, new promises, a new start, as well as, new blessings from almighty God.
Our theme for 2006 was “From Dreams to Destiny”. On this journey, we learned a lot about the mean times, that time in between our dreams and destiny. We discovered and rediscovered that: God knows the plans He has for us, His plans are to prosper us and bring us to an expected end. God is not a man that He should lie, so we learned how to wait on God. He that has begun this good work on the Beltway shall bring it to pass. The number 7 is the number of completion and I believe that in 2007 God is going to complete a lot of our dreams and prayers. “Yes, 2006 was an eye-opening journey.”
The first message for 2007 was “Take the Limits Off”. Pastor has explained to us that this message is from God not to us because He has no limits. We have limits in our thoughts about God and His abilities. Whatever we need, God is saying “No Limits” in 2007. He is able to do more than we can ask, think or imagine. It’s not by our might but it is God who will do it! We just have to trust, obey and expectantly wait for the manifestation. It’s already done in the Spirit. We just have to be still and know that He is God!
Love Ya,
Lady O
Who are we?
We are a community of faith with
Baptist roots and a non-denominational fertilization. Anointed
speakers and singers from all segments of the body of Christ
will be brought in to minister to First Metropolitan.
Our Facility:
We built as a first phase building
a Family Life Center rather than a Sanctuary to focus on
families and service in the community. Our next phase
of construction will be a sanctuary.
The Assimilation Process:
We believe that every member should
discover where he/she fits in the local body of Christ. Everyone
is encouraged to attend the 8-week study of Network on Wednesday nights
to discover spiritual gifts, personality profile and passion. This
study helps one find a place in ministry and aids their
understanding of how to appreciate and work with other
people. After the eight weeks there is a consultation
and an assignment to one or more ministries. We celebrate
each class’ completion of the study during the 10:45
am worship.
Friendly Atmosphere:
From the moment a person enters
the campus, we attempt to welcome them and make them comfortable. Our Parking
Attendant help facilitate easy assess onto the grounds
each Sunday Morning. Once inside Greeters give a
hospitable reception to guest and members. Our Worship
Attendants facilitate comfortable seating in the Worship
Center.
Our
Worship
Our worship is designed for attendees to be in the presence
of God and freely express their love and adoration to the
Heavenly Father. We encourage praise and worshipping
the Father in spirit and truth through the lifting of hands,
clapping, dancing, singing, shouting, praying and anointed
preaching. We do not prohibit or promote tongues during
worship. We believe in the guidance of the Holy Spirit
and order. The arts and technology are widely used. Preaching
is oriented toward teaching and alter call is given after
each message so that people can respond to God’s Word.
Women in Ministry
We believe that the Heavenly Father chooses both men and
women to proclaim the Gospel. The Holy Spirit functions through
women as well as men. Even though we believe that
men are the heads of their households; it does not negate
or diminish a woman’s spiritual gifting.
